Professor Laurent Mesnard is Head of the Intensive Care Nephrology Unit at Assistance Publique–Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), Tenon Hospital, Sorbonne University, Paris. He also serves as National Coordinator of the France Genomic Medicine Plan 2025 (PFMG2025) for rare adult kidney diseases. He is Co-Coordinator of the National Reference Center for Thrombotic Microangiopathies (CNR-MAT). Professor Mesnard’s team, based in Paris, uses short-read whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing for the clinical diagnosis of adult chronic kidney diseases. The team also develops applications of long-read sequencing technologies to accelerate the clinical diagnosis of rare kidney diseases at the time of intensive care unit admission. Another project, Allogenomics, aims to develop novel metrics to assess the risk of chronic kidney graft failure and to improve graft allocation strategies in kidney transplantation.
